Alexia uses photography as a paintbrush to draw tranquil and delicate poetry without words.
Colourful dreamlike paintings and abstract monochromes exist side by side in her artwork. They all have one goal: simplify the beauty and complexity of the world. In these decluttered images, shape, structure and colour become the subject.
Alexia’s creative process is explorative: experimentation and luck, pursuing unseen forms and patterns, to discover the concealed. The images she chooses to work with are not picked for emotional reasons or memories attached, but purely for their interesting aesthetic and their promising balance of shapes, colour and structure.
The resulting image is one that appears familiar but defies recognition, somewhere between fiction and reality, creating an atmosphere that solicits a moment of contemplation and slowing down.
