Louise Van Reeth

"Reduce to essential but don't take away the poetry." Léonard Koren

Louise Van Reeth
My story, my background

Louise Van Reeth is a young artist and curator with a degree in art history. More than nature, it is the raw material that must be captured in Louise Van Reeth's installations. Coal, marble, lava or gold in the form of volatile leaves, constitute the repertoire with which the artist works. Pure elements drawn from within the landscapes. Noble materials which are confronted with others which are sometimes less noble and complement each other within the same space recomposed by the artist. Indeed, it is not a question of composing by imposing a form on the material. The artist's practice is more close to recomposition, to "making with". Because it grants a certain respect, almost a restraint in front of the natural element that she exploits.
