Victoria Goemaere. Sharing quality time

In a few words, who are you?

My name is Victoria. I like spontaneity and efficiency but also taking time. Time to share good moments with my loved ones. Time for myself. Time to enjoy the things around us.

When and how did you start your craft?

Two years ago, I took the big step of starting my own business. I decided to create a Belgian product that I liked and that would please. A product that feels good, that makes every moment more pleasant and that respects our planet.

What does this discipline bring you?

Having a Belgian product, imagined and created by my own hands, gives me satisfaction on a daily basis when I work. I am proud of the products I offer because they respect our planet as much as possible, but also our bodies. Knowing that the components are non-toxic allows me to share this project with my eyes closed.

What makes your craft unique?

Terrae candles are unique not only in their colour. Indeed, each candle is created by hand so that no two are the same. Secondly, we offer wax refills so that you can enjoy your Terrae container forever. This is a point that seemed to be non-negligible when the project was created.

What does no one know about you that would allow us to understand/know you better?

I always knew, from a very young age, that one day I would have my own project.

Since I was able to take the plunge, I feel at home every day, no matter what the situation. I will do everything I can to make the customer proud of the Terrae candles they buy.

What qualities do you think are important for a craftsman?

Creativity, flexibility and perseverance.

What do you think is special about a Belgian craftsman?

In a small country like ours, there is room for everyone. Each person's surrealism makes them stand out in their own way.

If we start with the definition of R. Magritte who says that "to be surrealist is to banish from the mind the already seen and to seek the not yet seen", you are in the middle of surrealism.  What is surrealism for you?

It is what is different from the others.

Why is surrealism important?

To get out of our habits. Dare to be different.

What do you like in Belgium that you can't find anywhere else?

In Belgium there are so many different creations, projects and companies. But also, the people. People are welcoming, warm and happy with the country in which they were born and live.
