For more than 15 years, Myriam Van Calster has been drawing and painting. After beginning with acrylic painting and exploring different media, her artistic practice evolved into a form of painting that combines drawing, texture, and vibrant colors, always guided by a search for visual harmony.
Trained as a ceramic artist, she develops a contemporary figurative painting style in which faces, profiles, silhouettes, and graphic motifs merge within a poetic and colorful universe. Her square canvases, built through layers of forms, lines, and textures, tell open-ended stories where imagination and emotion emerge through the viewer’s gaze.
The “drawn-painted” motifs applied directly onto the canvas create a sensitive visual language between figuration and poetic abstraction. Graphic balance, chromatic harmony, and the richness of textures play a central role in her work.
Through painting, Myriam Calster explores a space of inner freedom and meditation, where colors, faces, and emotions blend into an atmosphere that is both vibrant and soothing.
