Edmundo Solari

Vissi de arte, vissi de amore…

Edmundo Solari
My story, my background

Born in 1954, Edmundo Solari has lived in Belgium since the age of 17. He has a longstanding passion for metal. His favourite field is metal sculpture, where he excels.

Although it has been said that he sometimes overdoes things, that he has an iron will and that he handles a blowtorch like a drawing pencil, he is first and foremost a metal artist-craftsman.

Edmundo Solari creates works that reflect his inner world, his origins, his history and his travels across different continents. Trained as a welder, he spends his days working with sheet metal, cutting, welding and shaping it to bring his creations to life.

He defies the harshness and solidity of the material to unleash his creativity.

His humble and respectful approach to the material combines with the artist's imagination and excess, creating works that are both moving and monumental. His work is characterised by a formidable work on the material and on the envelope of the material.

Solari's sculpture is a gestural and graphic style that aims to rediscover the essential forms and universal signs inspired by the heritage of primitive art and vanished civilisations.

His work is a testament to his passion for metal and his desire to create something beautiful and meaningful from raw materials.

For some years now, he has been devoting part of his time to painting and engraving. This work plunges us into his artistic world, clearly influenced by his South American roots... To be discovered as a matter of urgency.
