Salvia 1

Salvia 1 is an abstract painting that conveys a feeling of tranquility. It began as a study of the beautiful colour, salvia blue, which is painted beside warm, golden ochre. The textured surface, created by the use of collage underneath the paint, makes the work visually captivating. Although the shapes are abstract, the painting has the feeling of sea, land and sky. The soft blue evokes a sense of peace, while the irregular shapes and marks invite contemplation.
