Salvia 2

This artwork is a colour study, which began when I created a beautiful shade of blue - salvia blue. This is painted beside warm golden ochre, resulting in a harmonious and striking colour combination.  Collage underneath the paint adds an interesting texture and tactile quality to the piece.

Although the shapes are abstract, the painting has the feeling of sea, land and sky. The soft blue evokes a sense of peace, while the irregular shapes and interesting brush marks invite contemplation.
