L'Homme d'Avignon

"To return to the influence of African masks on European art, we must turn to the work of Picasso and Braque on the eve and at the birth of Cubism. At that time, both replaced human heads with African masks, and the question is often asked whether Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, from 1907, is the first Cubist painting. One of Fatoumata Sidibé's paintings is entitled L'Homme d'Avignon and is probably an allusion to Picasso's masterpiece.
